Science Stroke Art Installation

Unfortunately this month’s meeting is a short one as many of our members are revising in preparation for their GCSE/A-Level exams – Myself, Eli, Victoria & Andrea are the only attendees in the Senior Youth Board meeting.

The first thing that we saw upon entering the museum was the new installation for Science Stroke Art, as part of the stroke awareness month. It consisted of 1 million ovals on separate panes of glass. The installation highlighted some statistics about strokes – for instance, each oval represented 17 people who suffered a stroke for the first time every year (totalling 17 million), as well as each oval representing 6 people who died from strokes every year (totalling 6 million). Due to the nature of the layout of the installation, my photos don’t really do it justice – you would get a much better idea of its appearance if you see it first hand.
