On Saturday 14th July 2012, members of the Manchester Youth Board assisted a group of curators from Manchester Museum and the Friends of Whitworth Park in an event for Nature Manchester at Whitworth Park.
We met many people, and gave them ‘spotter’ sheets of species that have been documented in the past to see what they could find. We found that the local community identified some of the wildlife they see regularly, but don’t always know the name or the differences between the species. It was refreshing to see such enthusiasm and eagerness from all ages!

And of course, please check out the Manchester Museum’s Herbarium Dept. blog! Many thanks the Rachel for letting me use the camera throughout the day!
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and thankfully it stayed sunny for the majority of the day!
Check out just a small selection of the pictures from the day!
